There are a few reasons that people learn to drive. For some, it is a necessity. Getting to work, moving home or getting the kids to school. For others, it is about freedom and exploration. And exploration comes in many forms. It can be locally, heading to nature reserves or huge lakes.

Or, you might be ready to finish your driving lessons, pass your driving test, and head off on some of the most beautiful roads in the world. Because of course, you can rent a car almost everywhere you go.

So here are some of the best long roads for driving on - all over the world.

Atlantic Road, Norway

This road is mind-blowing. The scenic route is surrounded by water a was voted the engineering feat of the century for Norway. It is the type of road that has to be seen to be believed. This 8-kilometre beauty (that’s 5 miles), takes you over the ocean, and you’ll drive by some stunning mountains too.

The Atlantic Road is not only breath-taking on those blue-sky days, but when it gets rough, it’s quite something else.

To really make the most of the road, take an easy pace, and put on your favourite songs. It’s worth it.
