Is LaserTrack Flare legal?

LaserTrack Flare complies with all European directives for infrared laser technology. Therefore the system is permitted anywhere in the world as a remote control and as a laser detector. The deliberate influencing or disruption of laser speed guns is not permitted everywhere. Prior to selecting the desired mode on our web application, make sure disruption of police laser guns is permitted in the country/countries of your choice.

What advantages does LaserTrack Flare offer as a remote control in comparison with conventional remote controls?

LaserTrack Flare is an active remote control. This means you no longer need to press a button as soon as you approach you garden gate or garage door. The gate or door transponder automatically detects the presence of your vehicle and automatically opens your gate or door after receiving the unique code.

Is the use of LaserTrack Flare as a remote control safe?

The system has more than 4 billion unique codes and in addition, LaserTrack Flare uses an extremely narrow beam of light instead of radio signals. This makes it virtually impossible for others to grab the code in order to have access to your domain.

I have several cars that I want to operate my gate and/or garage door with, using LaserTrack Flare. Is that possible?

Up to 50 cars per gate or door transponder can be programmed.

Why didn't you choose optical fibers as other renowned laser systems do?

Optical fibers were initially our preferred option. However, after an extensive development and testing process, in cooperation with leading optical specialists, we rejected it. The reason: the top quality and particularly the reliability that we strive for for our customers, is simply not feasible with a fiber based laser system in the car.

Optical fibers are absolutely high tech, but for this application they are only suitable in the static environment of the laboratory and not on the road. Imagine the core of a fiber as an extremely thin glass wire with a coating and a protective isolation. The ultimate diameter of the fiber itself is even less than a millimetre. Through this minimal opening all the available laser light must be transmitted. This is not a problem as long as the ultra-thin fiber is not partly or entirely polluted (clogged) by sand, mud or brine. Once the fiber gets polluted, which cannot be detected by the human eye, then little or no laser light at all is transmitted, with consequent effects!

Another disadvantage of fibers is that due to their small size, it is often difficult to check whether they are set to the right angle. In addition, when bending the fiber too far during installation there is a chance that the fiber breaks. In both cases the result is a non-functioning system.

For these reasons we have chosen the reliable “all-in-one” solution where transmitter and receiver are placed in one casing. With its frontal surface of only 17 x 20 mm it is the smallest in the world!

Can I also use the rear transponder, mounted in the licence plate frame, for installation at the front of my vehicle?

Yes, as long as there is sufficient space to mount a licence plate frame on the front side of your vehicle.

Does LaserTrack Flare protect me against all laser guns used in Europe?

Yes, LaserTrack Flare was successfully tested towards all laser guns that are currently being used in Europe. Should police forces start to use new laser guns, not yet being recognised by LaserTrack Flare, we ensure to make an update available through our website as soon as possible. This way you are always assured of an up-to-date system.

Does LaserTrack Flare also warn in case of speed cameras and radar control?

No, LaserTrack Flare detects exclusively its own remote control transponders and police laser guns that are used for speed enforcement.
