For a stay-at-home dad, and a work-at-home mom, having a car is an essential lifeline! After all, how would you get out to the store, go for days out, or even get out of the house on a day to day basis if you didn't? That means when something goes wrong with your vehicle you want to get it fixed ASAP. The problem with this is, that when you are on one income, the budget is often incredibly tight. Something that means digging out a couple of extra grand for emergency vehicle repairs is challenging to say the least. There are, however, some tactics that you can use to get the car back on the road again. Read on to find out what they are.

  Liquidate some assets

This method can work really well, as its a fast way of getting some cash together to pay for repair shop’s bill. It does mean, however, that you have to sacrifice something else of value. What this entirely depends on what you have that could be sold, and what you can bear to part with.

For example, some folks have no trouble getting rid of old jewellery that they don't wear anymore. While others find the idea of selling this upsetting, even if they don't love the item itself.

Of course, if you do find yourself in this position, you can always head to your local pawn shop, as there you will be able to use the jewellery as security against a loan. Something that means you can get the item back once you have paid off the full amount within the timescale agreed.

Get a loan

However, not everyone has jewellery or other valuable items just lying around the house that they can use as a guarantee for a secured loan. Something that can leave them in a tricky situation when they need to get their vehicle fixed right away.

Luckily, there are companies like Evolution Money that offer loans secured against any property that you own. Something that can help you get a loan even if you have a poor credit rating, and get that car fixed up and back on the road.

Earn some extra

Of course, there are other options apart from selling stuff and applying for loans, you can take on some extra work to pay for the bill as well.

This may be in the form of overtime for the company that you are already working with. Alternatively, it could be with another company, or in the form of a home base side hustle like survey taking, paid web surfing, or emotion recognition.

Unfortunately, this does mean adding to your schedule, and so it can increase the pressure and stress you experience for the time in which you are doing extra work. Not something that everyone wants to take on, even for a vital need like fixing the car. Especially if they already have their family and their first job responsibilities to think about.
