Unique is not a word we use lightly here, but in describing the new headrest conversion kit from INCAAR, it’s entirely justified. Never before has the professional installer been able to buy everything he needs for the job in one neat package. And what a package! This piece of kit oozes sophistication with its minimalist styling and sleek mirror-like appearance. It’s flawless!
Not only does it look good, but it’s guaranteed to prevent little fingers from tampering with the settings because it’s fully remote control. Built-in dual channel infra-red audio transmitters offer wireless audio through the high quality dual channel headphones, which are supplied in the kit. You don’t have to worry about the headphone batteries going fl at as there is an auto-off circuit that switches them off when no IR audio is present. It boasts an auto dimmer function, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the monitor for optimum day or night-time viewing. In addition, the built-in remote control repeater enables the selected source to be controlled via the monitor. The beauty of this is that the installer doesn’t have to fit extra remote control receivers in the vehicle. What really sets this kit apart is some of its special features, for example the monitor and back box communicate power and signal through a special touch-contact circuit on the rear of the monitor.This simplifies the install and removal of the monitor. The kit is supplied as standard with a 2-way AV amplifier/selector and power distributor in one unit. This offers two AV inputs and separate control of the monitor sources as well as buffering the signals for improved quality. Single plug harnesses measuring 5.5 metres are provided to plug directly into the switcher and also into the monitor harness at the base of the seat. Mini DIN plugs are used at the monitor end to enable routing of cables through the headrest shafts. Another unique feature is that the monitor has 180 degree versatility and can be installed either way up. This means it will offer the best viewing angle in any headrest, whether tilted forwards or backwards. The lack of external buttons or logos and the on screen display menu facilitates this.
